Using The Car As A Reflecting Surface

When you want to photograph reflections, you need something to reflect. On a car wax infomercial, I chose this 50 x 100 sky drop as the image to be reflected. I hung it "upside down" to get the blue values behind the car and the red values up high, where they would show up more prominently in the reflections.
| Right: Bleached muslin overhead and downstage create highlights in the chrome, glass and side panels. Notice how this helps to reveal subtle shapes in what would otherwise appear to be flat, shiny, black metal. |

Below: From a slightly higher angle, horizontal surfaces begin to strongly reflect the upper part of the sky drop, creating beautiful patterns on the compound-curved, mirror-like surfaces of metal, chrome and glass. |
